LAR 535 - Environmental and Social Justice in Design; Kofi Boone
We dug deep into the key concepts of social and environmental justice and examined their intersection with landscape design in this class.
Reflection/Analysis - paper is short but illustrates my ability to view a guest presentation and connect it back to our key learning areas. In this paper I consider how I might use what I've learned moving forward.
PRT 610- Special Topics in Recreation Resources: Public-Public Partnerships; Dr. Aaron Hipp
MOU Considerations
In this class our primary goal was to consider how to create a solid foundation for a potential public-public partnership between the City of Raleigh, NC and North Carolina State University in regards to Dorothea Dix Park.
Reflection/Analysis - Through this project I was able to research about a dozen, and interview 6, organizational leaders about the impactful work they are doing in partnership with others. Learning about the scope of partnerships around recreation, community development, public space, and public health across the US was incredibly enriching. I also had a catbird seat -as this was a one on one class- into Dr. Hipp's efforts to create a sustainable, long term partnership between the City of Raleigh and NCSU; a much more difficult task than one might think. The document shared here is not much to look at, but was something I've already used in my own work at the City of Asheville.
