About Me

I am an urban planner and creative strategist that teaches people about how great places are made. I work with organizations, property owners and businesses that want to continue making Western North Carolina a special place.  I help communities work with local governments to improve their neighborhoods and favorite places. I am particularly good at working on projects that sit at some intersection of creative commercial development, parks and public space, cultural arts, and civic engagement.

I believe parks, public space and public land are our greatest collective assets. They help bring us together to relax, connect, learn, recreate and make memories, as well as  helping us address some of our most pressing issues. They are open to and belong to all of us. I want to ensure that the public spaces in Asheville and across Western North Carolina are invested in for years to come.

I have 21 years of public sector experience and led the visioning and design process for over $50 Million of built municipal investments in parks, greenways, complete streets and public art in Asheville, NC. I've collaborated with and learned from an amazingly talented group of public, not for profit, and private sector entrepreneurs through my career. I understand that it takes all kinds to be successful at this great experiement that is city-building.
